Shrewsbury Town in the Community deliver a range of activities through our Community Sports department, which aims to engage children in both learning and sport.
The programmes delivered by this department range from in-school delivery such as Premier League Primary Stars and Reading the Game, to football sessions, including the ever-popular soccer schools, disability football through ShrewsAbility and Girls’ only football through the Wildcats programme. These sessions aim to be inclusive of all participants, so that everyone can enjoy sport in their own environment.
The programmes delivered within schools by the Community Sports team aim to engage and inspire all pupils through the power of football and its popularity across the world. Each lesson is devised to improve the skills of children through different challenges and exercises, ranging from English and Maths skills to those required in Physical Education.
The department has engaged over 2000 participants in the last 12 months, and has provided over 1,500 hours of work experience to a range of volunteers across the different projects.
